Phosphor vs Remix Icon
Phosphor is a weight ramp. Remix Icon is a line and fill pair. Both are interface sets, and the names encode the style.
- Use Phosphor when the design system already names a weight, from thin through duotone.
- Use Remix when a control needs a -line icon at rest and a -fill icon when selected.
- Phosphor is MIT. Remix Icon is Apache 2.0. Keep the notice for the set you ship, and do not mix the two grids in one toolbar.
Which one to open
Open Phosphor when the design system already names a weight, from thin through duotone, and the same metaphor must exist at those steps. Open Remix Icon when a control needs a -line icon at rest and a -fill icon when selected. Choose one ending for resting icons and the other for selected. Do not invent a third style.
If the product already uses one of these, stay there. Both are interface sets, not brand packs. The cards above open each collection.
Weight ramp versus a line and fill pair
Phosphor encodes the weight in the name. Remix Icon encodes -line or -fill. They are not the same system. A Phosphor thin icon will not match a Remix line icon in stroke or corner, even when the noun is the same.
The names that exist in both catalogs are mostly the fill variants. The samples below are those shared names, including user-fill and heart-fill. That overlap is a way to look at the drawings. It is not a reason to mix the grids in one toolbar.
When to pick Phosphor vs Remix
Pick Phosphor when weight is the product variable. Pick Remix when selected state is a fill, and resting state is a line, without needing thin or duotone steps.

Phosphor is MIT. Remix Icon is Apache 2.0. Keep the notice for the set you ship. Neither is CC BY. Remix is an interface set, not a flag or technology-badge library. See Licenses. Follow the upstream license. This site is not legal advice.
